Parting from classical and traditional academic painting in Europe during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, developed abstract paintings. Former to abstract painting, many well-known artists painted accurate perception, shading, and other practices with the aim to create historical scenes and subject matter as approaches of classical realism. During 20th century, many artists went against recognized traditional styles and started to form art that didn’t essentially denote to objects in the reality. As the subjects were derived completely from the artists and were not referred to or copied from real world, this new evolved way of painting was known as “pure art”. Abstract artists explored new methods like: Shapes reconstruction, refusing realistic 3D perspective and use of bright and random colours to highlight the artwork’s recognized features over its reality.
Exploring with colours and arousing emotions was a prime attention of abstract artists.
1. German Expressionism is categorizing the colours corresponding to human sentiments. (3)
2. Fauvism portrays objects with focused random colour. (4)
3. Orphism features bright colours instead of a symbolic object. (5)
4. Cubism describes firm perception of objects, showing pure abstract painting. (6)
Abstract Expressionists explore with gesture. These the whole thing were known as ‘Action Paintings’ since they were known as a document of the painters’ exact movements.
