“Colours got the power of influencing souls”

All over the olden times colour schemes have often been used to define diverse feelings, seasons and rituals based on cultures and origin. From the history all over many cultures, certain colours are linked with specific feelings and emotions that are still appropriate in modern design. Our subconscious feelings can be affected by colours. Denoting that you may not even know you are being affected by the colour of a surrounding or artwork. Based on emotions, colour hues are grouped into two main groups generally known as warm colours and cool colours.

The colour psychology (1):

1. Red:
Red colour is universally used to indicate strength, power, danger and courage. it is stimulating, exciting and vibrant. It is also known as colour of desire. Red is strongly associated to sexuality and increased hunger. People who like red are seen to be passionate and enthusiastic.

Light red: joy, sexuality, passion, sensitivity and love.

Pink: romance, love, friendship, feminine qualities and passiveness.

Dark red: willpower, rage, anger, leadership, courage, longing, malice, and wrath.

Brown: stability and masculine qualities.

Reddish-brown: harvest and fall.

2. Orange:
Orange colour is often linked with excitement, warmth, extrovert, showing happiness and joy. It’s a colour of encouragement and appealing to youths.

Dark orange: deceit and distrust.

Red-orange: desire, sexual passion, pleasure, domination, aggression, and thirst for action.

Gold: prestige, wisdom, wealth and high quality.

3. Yellow:
Yellow colour denotes youthful, fresh energy, inspiration, enlightenment, success and confidence. It’s a colour of optimism and attention grabbing.

Colour yellow stimulates the brain helping make quicker decisions and think clearly.

Dull yellow: caution, decay, sickness and jealousy.

Light yellow: intellect, freshness and joy.

4. Pink:
Colour pink is linked with friendship, affection, harmony, inner peace, and friendliness. Pink is a colour of sensitivity and can also be linked with sweet, nice, playful, cute, romantic, charming, feminine and tenderness.

Hot pink: playfulness.

5. Blue:
Blue colour shows serenity, peace, confidence and motivates feelings of trust, reliability, honesty and responsibility. It’s a colour of trust and linked with masculinity and is highly liked amongst males. It is also noted that colour blue reduces appetite, avoiding colour blue for promoting food and cooking is suggested.

Light blue: health, healing, understanding and softness.

Dark blue: knowledge, power, truth and significance.

6. Green:
Green is connected with refreshing, peaceful, abundance, prosperity, security, glory and nature. It’s a colour of growth and health.

Dark green: ambition, greed and jealousy.

Yellow-green: sickness, cowardice, discord and jealousy.

Aqua: emotional healing and protection.

Olive green: peace.

7. Violet:
Colour violet is a combination of energy from red and calmness of blue. It is linked with quality, royalty, wisdom, dignity, independence, creativity, mystery, and magic. It’s a colour of spirituality.

Light purple: romantic and sentimental.

Dark purple: gloomy, sad and frustration.

8. Brown:
Brown colour stands for naturalness, reliability, elegance, security, healing, home, foundations, stability, warmth, and honesty. It’s a colour of earth. (3)

9. White:
Colour white shows light, goodness, innocence, purity, safety, cleanliness, simplicity, healing and virginity. It is said to be colour of perfection.

10. Black:
Black colour is linked with secrets, sophistication, power, strength, authority and control. It’s a colour of mystery.

Colours mean a lot; they convey messages consciously or subconsciously. However, world without colours would be empty and boring.
