Elements of Design - Colour

“Imaginations never runs out; it grows the more you use it.”

Colour is one of the firmest fundamental to connect and undoubtedly one of the most inspiring to recognize. The basics, however, are comparatively simple.

Colour supports to the group of a design, and gives prominence to certain zones or activities. Similar to other essentials, it has a few various properties: hue, saturation, and lightness. Unlike other essentials, it’s okay if it isn’t used. A design can have the absence of colour as black and white are colours as well, Colour can be used sparingly or in a rainbow of hues, but inclines to work great when there’s both a foremost colour and a supportive colour.

Hue classically shows a wavelength of light in the colour spectrum, which is merged from the primary colours of red, green, and blue which is generally mentioned as RGB. A specific hue can have an exciting or gloomy saturation. More or less powerful blue hues are Cyan, baby blue, navy blue, and royal blue. A colour can also be on the light or dark end of the spectrum.

It’s significant to note that while colour is universal, various cultures have various implications for colours. For an example, in some cultures, white is connected with purity; in others, it’s connected with death. Same goes to black, in advertising culture, black is considered to be rich and luxurious where as in some cultures black is linked with bad omen and negativity. (1)
