“The hunger to generate is one of the deepest desires of the human soul.”
Frequent starting point for all creative expressions, the line is one of the most vital essentials of an artwork defined by a point moving in space. At all times a line has more extent than thickness, and can be continuous, broken, or oblique. A line can be upright, slanting, flat, and even curved and curled. It can be any width, size, shape, position, path, interval, or thickness. Points create lines and lines create figures. A line can have other fundamentals like color, surface, and measure applied to it. However, it is basic in appearance, lines can regulate the watcher’s opinions and reactions, and lead a watcher’s eye through space.
In the designs, line is generally used to cover or separate fragments visually. For an example, a book or a magazine uses lines to distinct content, captions and side paragraphs. Whereas in a digital design, the navigation bar can have a line to separate itself from the content.
Various types of lines create various moods depending on what mood an artist is using a line to make. (1)
